Case Study 14 Title: Engine pump faulty due to bad user practice Findings: 1. Pump was dismantled by customer and found parts have been worn out while product is still under warranty. 2. Upon verification, pump appeared to be over sped and caused the engine parts to damage. 3. User has adjusted speed from its original position. Solutions: 1. Client is advised not to adjust the speed and follow the allowable performance to avoid engine faulty. 2. They are also advised not to dismantle pumps to prevent further damage. Case Study 13 Can we perform  “Noise Level” test for submersible pumps? NO. we cannot perform  “Noise Level” and “Hydrostatic” test (including Gland Packing Pump) Reason: The noise level reading will not be accurate when pump is submerged into the water. A hydrostatic test is a way in which pressure vessels such as pipelines, plumbing, gas cylinders, boilers and fuel tanks can be tested for strength and leaks. Case Study 12 Product: Zenit DR Blue Incident: Pump is not operating and has been dismantled by customer. Spare parts such as impeller, bearing, mechanical seal, motor coil and O-ring are damaged. Remedy:  1. All spare parts need to through maintenance periodically by referring to the instruction manual. 2. Pump condition must be investigated before using. All parts have been dismantled on customer's end. Both side of the impeller were damaged due to the unwanted objects went in to the pump. Some dirt that obstructs the operation and caused damage. Motor coil were burnt due to the overloaded duty from the dirt in pump. Possible Cause Analysis: Damaged parts are generally due to the impeller was stuck with dirt and caused pump motor over-running amp thus burned the motor. Rectification: 1.      All damaged spare parts have been replaced and advice to the customer about maintenance has been delivered....

Case Study 11 Product: EMV64-60-1FC2370T (2 units)   Problem: One unit of pump can achieve rated pressure but another unit (same model) cannot achieve!                                                                                             Possible Cause Analysis: 1. Pump not reach rated speed                                                                           ...

Case Study 3 Title:  Sealing leaking  Findings & Observation: 1.  Dismantle of T1510 for positive material inspection. After assemble back for all the 4 pumps and performance test, we have found all 4 pumps are leaking from item 27, "Ring, Manifold Sealing" (cup rubber). Possible causes on the findings and observations: 1. Tightening Issues (ie. Overtighten will deformed the ring. Undertighten will not seal properly) 2. Incompatible material of the Ring/Manifold Sealing par Solution and Conclusion: 1. With help from Peter Koh and Winston Lee to our workshop, Winston has highlighted that item 27 "Ring, manifold Sealing" material was too soft. Need to replace harder type material. 2. We have order harder type material from local source of NBR, core 90 (hardness) and increase 2 mm on end ring. 3. Since the sealing material is harder and increased 2mm on end ring, the tightening bolts all need to replace  with 1/2" x 2 ...

Case Study 8 Incident: Pump running at abnormal high ampere 7.3A Remedy: 1. Remove the submersible pump out of water, place on ground and check the pump rotation. Technician discovered pump was in wrong direction. Swap phase cable and change for correct rotation according to pump casing arrow indication. 2. Place the submersible pump back to pond, check the pump running ampere, 3.7A (same as pump nameplate) Possible Cause Analysis: A centrifugal pump uses a spinning "impeller," which normally has backward-swept blades that directly push water outward. Rectification: 1. During this type of DAB submersible installation, do check and make sure it's in correct rotation. 2. We tend to think that if pump operated in wrong rotation there will be low discharge pressure and low ampere. However, based on this incident, impeller with wrong rotation results in higher discharge pressure (compare to correct rotation) and higher ampere. 3....
